Behind the Wheel

We finally got our car off the boat! So far, Ben has been the only one to drive (a rental) here. But yesterday, I decided to be brave and just go for it...I mean, I passed my British license test after all! Wow! It was crazy! I had been trying to prepare myself beforehand, but it is much different when you are the one behind the wheel! Driving on the left is not the hard part, at least for me. In my opinion, the hardest part was trying to remember all the new British driving rules and signage.... this one's for you, Andrea....(they need some of those in Naples, eh?)
and trying to manuver (our large American car) through all the narrow country roads like this one! Bigger cars are expected to pull to the side while the smaller cars pass, and if you are going uphill or around a bend, you have to just pray no one is coming! I hope I will get more comfortable with all of it over time, but I think it is safe to say that I will have sweaty palms and a permanent claw-grip for the next few months.

Good luck! In some ways I know how you feel. Sweden has very winding roads where people drive really fast. It made me so nervous because you can't see anything around that curve, especially in the dark. But, at least you're not learning to drive stick in a town where no one speaks english. That had some interesting consequences...
And good job on passing the British License test. I hear any of those driving tests in Europe are hard, yes?
