Ripley Castle

We decided to take a little excursion to Ripley Castle this weekend
(to escape the not-so-fun week we've had dealing with auto insurance issues...
but I won't bore you with that).
There's nothing like an awesome castle to distract you!

The village is said to have a slight French influence.

Ripley Castle.

Castle Grounds...

Ben showing off his guns...carrying the boys over a muddy puddle.

Another view of the castle...

Sign of Spring!  The snowdrops are blooming!

More French flair of the village...

Nate at the Castle gate.  If you look closely, you can see the Boar's head on the knocker.  It is part of the Family Crest.  The Boar is a theme throughout the village...here is the history of why, if you are interested.

When the tour through the castle was done, we had a picnic lunch!
(Nate is an expert at the "forced smile")

And of course you can't go to Ripley Castle without trying the famous Ripley ice-cream!

Yummers!
