Turtle Soup

So I have done my good animal deed for the day! I rescued a little Eastern Box Turtle from certain death this morning. I was dropping off some library books when I saw him making his way into on-coming traffic. I had to swerve around him to avoid turning him into turtle soup, so I knew some less observant sucker would nail him if I didn't do something. So I pulled to the side of the road, turned on my hazard lights and ran to his aid. Except, apparently he didn't want saving. He totally poked his head all the way out (as far as that freaky thing will stretch I guess), looked at me with his beady red eyes, and he started to run...yes, it was the fastest I've ever seen a turtle go. Luckily, I was able to grab him before he got away and safely placed him in some woods nearby. I was pretty proud of myself. I even let Nate take a peek at him before we drove away. I don't normally do stuff like that, but with Nate in the car, I had to do something. So I was feeling pretty good until I got home, and then I remembered that this morning I killed like a hundred ants that were helping themselves to my kitchen. So I guess that kinda vetoes my good animal deed for the day. Oh well, at least I made a little boy happy!

good for you, ants don't count, and neither do fruit flies

you always have a fun sense of humor. Good save- your G.ma Wampler would be proud! :)

Great job! Not every driver is so observant or so kind. Turtles need our help. Here's a good link with lots of information:
